Kim received her BSF (Bachelors of Science in Forestry), specializing in forest resources management, with honours from the University of British Columbia in 2008. She worked in the forest industry in British Columbia for several years before returning to school to complete a Geographic Information System Diploma and then traveling to Germany to study forestry in Europe for the first year of her dual degree master’s program.

Kimberly completed her Masters of Science under the supervision of Mike Flannigan. She looked at modelling spring human-started fire occurrence in Alberta, using independent variables such as fuel moisture indices, time of year, day of week, ecoregions etc.

Kim is currently working with the Government of Alberta as a Wildfire Science Specialist.
Kim’s interests outside of school include playing hockey as a goalie, reading and gardening.
